Here, In The Moment

Here, In The Moment

Summer’s sunrise simmers silently and softly
as I sit here, in the moment, writing the words
of a voice thirty-six years deep inside life’s evolution. My ink
is the celebration of time as I tell the world I am here
because my awakening has become a publication
living on in the distance of tomorrow where I will live
on long after I am gone. I will tell the new generations
of all the beautiful days that have captured souls; I will share
the gift of love and the process of growth and I will show
them that even in those days of rain, when the heart dampens
and the mind floods with tears, strength blossoms
into new outlets of discovery. In the many verses
of my blues they will see me dancing– sometimes sadly– in the many sounds
of my surroundings. And there have been those times
I’ve been down without hope walking alone on the streets
of struggle searching for something or someone to hold on to
but each time I have been healed by the freedom
of my inner being to explore the resiliency of each survival.
Through my words I want to be the shoulder a young child
cries on; I want to be the light that is found when a person, maybe a friend,
needs to be lead out of a darkness; I want to be the smile
in a new romance of love shared by two hearts of the same purpose
and I want to be remembered through the expression
of connection because here, in the moment, I am a living diary
written by poetry of life.
