Poetry Of Poverty: A Lifeless Life by Diwakar Pokhiryal

Poverty – A lifeless life

In-discernibly incarcerated for no crime,

Hushed pain unduly gifted,

Teasingly duped by rich,

An icon of clemency painted

Tantalizing moans are hollow,

Money befall a specter deity,

Lifeless actions reincarnate life,

Heart crammed with excruciating anxiety,

Loan counting myriad breadths,

Freedom snivel tears of bloody pain,

Life altered into game of ignominy,

Rights & Independence dies insane.

Questions murdered brutally,

Answers twisted barely insignificant

Meaningless time replicate itself,

Rich enjoys broadcast magnificent.

Justice evaporates in rain of emptiness,

Aloof and gloomily treated,

Poverty imitate a situation,

As if god has undyingly cheated.

Thy soul has carved incarnation,

Salacious solitude crafting demise,

Oh lord! Give thy soul relief,

This poverty kills your premise.

I am fighting back tears. Reading this poem has flipped on the loud speaker to the countless nameless masses. I volunteer with a street ministry for the homeless….a few churches are represented…just individual members, no news, no cameras NO EGOES. May God bless you and all whom you touch.

Hitting to the core, and truth of how poverty affects those who live and endure it. This live struck me hard, and angered me because I am still unabel to fathom that others can treat someone like this. This is the line: “Teasingly duped by the rich”. A powerful line, that brings shame to those who do that to others who live in poverty. Powerful write Diwakar.
